About the Organization
London Cycle Link is a member supported non-profit dedicated to helping Londoners ride bikes more. Through education, advocacy and community-building efforts we envision a healthy, vibrant London where it’s safe and convenient for everyone to cycle. We host events, teach cycling skills, launch campaigns and operate the Squeaky Wheel Bike Co-op to achieve our impact.
About the Role
We are looking for a creative, versatile, community minded individual to support and grow London Cycle Link’s membership of cyclists and bike friendly businesses, through programming and outreach events, as well as IT and communications projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
Help London Cycle Link maintain and strengthen relationships with members and volunteers through timely communication and helpful information (e.g. emails, social media, newsletters)
Become familiar with London Cycle Link's membership database and internal communication platform
Collaborate with executive director on online communications (e.g. website updates, feedback surveys)
Reach out to diverse communities of cyclists and potential cyclists across the city, including cyclists of all ages and abilities, all genders, cultures and identities
Help to build and promote the Bicycle Friendly Business program
Collaborate with other staff to plan neighbourhood-focused outreach events that encourage cycling and educate the public about London Cycle Link and our programs
Collaborate with other staff to deliver workshops, bike rides and other events (in-person and online)
Capture photos/ videos/ stories to be shared on social media and newsletters
Qualifications
Knowledge of/interest in cycling culture and cycling advocacy
Enjoyment in working with people from all walks of life, all backgrounds, and all ability levels
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work both independently and with a small team
Confident and efficient using computer programs including Gmail, Word, Excel and various social media platforms and databases.
Bonus Points
Experience working for or volunteering with a non-profit organization
A strong understanding of and commitment to anti-oppressive values and practices
Digital communication skills, including website maintenance, photography and videography
Adeptness at working in a range of online platforms
Job Specifications
Compensation: $15.35 /hr.
Hours: 30 hours/week, with some evening and weekend work required
Nine-week contract, starting in early June, 2022
All youth aged 15 to 30 years are eligible participants
