About the Organization

London Cycle Link is a member supported non-profit organization dedicated to helping Londoners ride bikes more. Through education, advocacy and community-building efforts we envision a healthy, vibrant London where it’s safe and convenient for everyone to cycle. We host events, teach cycling skills, launch campaigns and operate the Squeaky Wheel Bike Co-op to achieve our impact.

The Squeaky Wheel Bike Co-op is a DIY community bike shop providing Londoners with an accessible environment where they can learn about bicycle maintenance and cycling as a safe and sustainable means of transportation. We seek to be a hub and source of support connecting all Londoners with the resources they need to become confident, competent cyclists.

About the Role

We are looking for an energetic and organized individual interested in building our capacity to better serve our vibrant and growing community. The Program Coordinator will play a key role in developing our programs and engaging our volunteer and member base. The role will require flexibility, personal initiative, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with staff and volunteers. 

The program coordinator will work on planning, facilitating and promoting workshops and events, supporting Squeaky Wheel’s operations and building community partnerships. Each day will be a blend of these tasks, requiring both collaboration and independence. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with volunteer coordination or program development experience, basic bike mechanic skills and a strong interest in learning more.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Works independently, with staff, volunteer committees and partner organizations to run or support programs. 

  • Assists in the design, logistics and delivery of cycling programs (e.g. bike mechanics workshops, bike-friendly business programming)

  • Assists in the design, logistics and delivery of cycling events (e.g. outreach, bike valet, bike repair tents, group rides and other community events)

  • Supports the daily operations of Squeaky Wheel Bike Co-op by assisting the shop manager and volunteers 

  • Captures and shares photos/videos/stories on social media and in newsletters.

  • Tracks and reports on key performance indicators related to programming to fulfill grant and strategic requirements.

  • Helps to plan for future programming as Squeaky Wheel Bike Co-op transitions to a new location

Qualifications

  • Enjoy working with people from all walks of life, all backgrounds, and all ability levels

  • Strong professional communication and interpersonal skills

  • Experience coordinating volunteers, planning events, or developing programs

  • Can work both independently and with a small team

  • Standard computer skills (word processing, email)

Assets

  • Experience working for or volunteering with a non-profit organization

  • Knowledge/interest in cycling culture and cycling advocacy

  • Beginner to intermediate bike mechanic skills and an eagerness to learn more

  • A strong understanding of and commitment to anti-oppressive values and practices

  • Digital communication skills including social media, website, photo/video 

Job Specifications

  • Compensation: $17/hour

  • Hours: 30 hours/week for 9 weeks, with some evening and weekend work required

  • Direct report: Executive Director
