Bike Art Contest WINNERS!

“Thanks for putting on such a fun contest and getting participation from our youth. We need the next generation to be like-minded and get our cities more bike friendly.” - proud parent of 3 bike art submitters

Between April and June we had 22 submissions of awesome bike art for our London Cycle Link Bike Art Contest! Kids and teenagers between the ages of 3 and 15 submitted art that ranged from amazingly realistic to wildly colourful to inspirational. All were creative and spoke to the contestant’s love of cycling!

Here are some of the quotes and captions that came with the submissions:

“Biking makes me happy!” - Thea, age 7

“(my 9 year-old daughter made) the piece with the custom stencil and gold spray paint. This was her first time using that platform.” about Miriam’s art (age 9)

“(my 7 year-old daughter) made the picture with the tandem bikes. A single page wasn’t large enough a canvass for this extreme little girl. You haven’t seen a 6 year old cycling as fiercely as this one.”

(my 4 year-old son) the baby of the family is almost finished with his training wheels. He’s been practicing without them for 2 weeks or so and is starting to have long stretches crash free. His submitted piece has his face in the wheels.”

In the end, the judges had the very difficult job of choosing only ONE winner for each of the four age categories. It was not easy, as we were inspired and moved by ALL of the submissions, but we decided in the end that these people made art that stood out and conveyed strong, positive, inspiring emotions about cycling:

Sylvia Sass (14), Gracie Vejvoda (11), Marley Weis (13), and Aspen Trudelle (3)

See below for their artwork!

Thanks again to everyone who participated!! Stay tuned for future art contests - perhaps we should have one for adults next?!
