On Thursday, May 16, Squeaky Wheel Bike Co-op (at 740 Dundas Street) will be celebrating seven years of operations by adding Thursdays to our line-up of Days You Can Visit the Bike Co-op!
We will also be acknowledging and celebrating grant funding we received through the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the (Federal) Community Services Recovery Fund. This funding has allowed us to do important projects, including:
Funding two female volunteers to do pro mechanics training at Winterborne Bicycle Institute in Dundas, Ontario. Both are now working with other volunteers and visitors to the shop, passing on their mechanic skills.
Obtain video conferencing equipment, in order to offer expanded access to our meetings, workshops and other events.
Build fixtures and bike racks to greatly improve the functionality of our space.
Improve our systems, replacing old platforms and applications with new ones that better fit our needs and the needs of our members.
The Grand Thursday Opening event will be an open house from 12:00-7:00 p.m., with refreshments available, and London Cycle Link/Squeaky Wheel Bike Co-op staff and volunteers around and happy to chat throughout the day.
Local musicians Westminster Park will join us to play a set of live music. (This band also played at our original opening party on April 26, 2017.)
